Lighting installation
Lighting installation electrician in your area
Downlights, pendants, outdoor and sensor lights. Planned properly, installed once, working for years.
Overview
The short version
Good lighting is the cheapest renovation there is. Swap tired halogens for LED, put light where you actually cook, read and walk, and a room feels newer without touching a wall.
Bryce plans the layout before he drills anything. That means the right number of downlights for the room size, dimmers where you'll want them, and no fitting placed over a cupboard door because that's where the old one was.
Every job is on a proper circuit with a certificate of compliance, and the old fittings go in the ute, not your bin.

Pricing
What affects the price
Every job is quoted as a fixed price before work starts. These are the things that move it up or down — tell us about them and the quote will be closer to the mark.
- Number of fittings and whether existing cabling can be reused
- Ceiling access — a roof space you can crawl through is faster than a flat roof or concrete slab
- Whether you supply the fittings or we source them
- Adding dimmers, new switches or a new lighting circuit
- Outdoor work: trenching, weatherproof fittings and sensor wiring
Time on site
Most downlight jobs are done in half a day. A full-house LED swap or outdoor lighting run is usually a day.

FAQs
Lighting installation: common questions
How much does it cost to install downlights?
It depends on the number of lights, ceiling access and whether cabling already exists. Send a photo of the room and we will give you a fixed price before any work starts.
Can you replace halogen downlights with LED?
Yes. LED uses roughly 80% less power, runs cooler and lasts far longer. In most homes it is a same-day job.
Do I need an electrician to change a light fitting?
In Australia, yes. Anything involving fixed wiring must be done by a licensed electrician. You get a certificate of compliance and your insurance stays valid.
Can you install lighting outside?
Yes. Garden, patio, driveway and sensor lighting, all with weatherproof fittings and the right IP rating.
Will you help me choose the lights?
Happy to. Bryce will tell you what works for the room and what to avoid. You can supply your own fittings or we can source them.
Can you install downlights in a house with no roof access?
Usually, yes. Bryce can often fish cable through the ceiling from the fitting holes. Where that's not possible he'll tell you before quoting, not after.
How many downlights does a room need?
A rough guide is one per 1.5–2 square metres for a living space, fewer for bedrooms. Bryce will sketch a layout so light falls where you use the room.
