Because it's installed by an electrician rather than plugged in, smart switches sit in the wall where the old ones were and keep working normally if the internet drops out.

What affects the price
Every job is quoted as a fixed price before work starts. These are the things that move it up or down — tell us about them and the quote will be closer to the mark.
- Number of switches, dimmers and devices being automated
- Whether existing wiring has a neutral at the switch (most do; some older homes don't)
- Motorised blinds, garage doors or gates that need power run to them
- Network work — extra Wi-Fi points or data cabling so nothing drops out
- Integration with an existing system versus starting fresh
Time on site
A handful of smart switches is a half day including setup on your phone. Whole-home automation is usually staged over a day or two.

FAQs
Smart home automation: common questions
Do I need to rewire the house?
No. Most smart switches replace your existing ones and use the wiring already there. New builds and renovations are the exception, where we cable properly from the start.
Which system do you recommend?
It depends on your phone, your budget and how much you want to control. Bryce will ask what you actually want to do day to day and recommend from there, not push one brand.
What happens if the internet goes down?
With the systems we install, wall switches keep working normally. You only lose the app and voice control until the connection is back.
Can you add to an existing setup?
Usually, yes. Tell us what you have and we will work out what fits with it.
Can I control the air conditioning from my phone?
Yes. Most split systems can be added with a small controller, and ducted systems often have a smart option from the manufacturer. Bryce will check what you have.
Will smart switches work with my ceiling fans?
Yes, with the right fan-rated controller. Standard dimmers aren't suitable for fans, which is a common DIY mistake we get called out to fix.
